Claude Monet
The leader of the French Impressionist movement, dedicated to capturing the fleeting effects of light, atmosphere, and the changing seasons. My work rejects the rigid formalism of the Academy in favor of painting en plein air—directly from nature. Whether depicting the rugged coasts of Normandy, the smog of London, or my water gardens in Giverny, I seek to render the vibration of color and the truth of the moment.
